External Theses
Students are probably the most important link between the University and working practitioners, so naturally we accept theses closely aligned to issues arising in a particular enterprise.
However, experience shows that there tends to be a significant discrepancy between the expectations of the respective firm and the requirements for writing a research thesis. For a qualification thesis it is generally necessary to meet the standards of scientific work. At the same time cooperation with practitioners can only be successful if both the candidate and the enterprise benefit.
Therefore, any apparent conflicts between the thesis requirements of the research group and the wishes of any enterprise involved must be raised on a case-by-case basis with the candidate’s advisor, who will involve the firm concerned in their resolution if necessary.
